Robert Sarver buys shares of Meritage Homes

by John Wake on August 21, 2007

Speaking of San Diego, Robert Sarver, owner of the Phoenix Suns and a director of Meritage Homes bought 91,900 shares of Meritage Homes common stock last week.

Sarver made his fortune in San Diego real estate. When Sarver was in his early 20’s he took control of his father’s small San Diego bank when his father died unexpectedly. He invested strongly in San Diego real estate in the 1990’s when others were afraid to.

Meritage Homes is based in Scottsdale.

I think this was a bad move on his part but it’s like Chris Rock says… If you got 40 million dollars and the wife take half, big deal you still got 20 million. If you got 40 thousand dollars and the wife take half, you only got 20 thousand dollars left!
