A well known Phoenix real estate brokerage, RE/MAX 2000, is going out of business. Based out of Gilbert Arizona, RE/MAX 2000 had 13 offices, 350 agents and 20 salaried employees.
Bruce Fraser, an agent with RE/MAX 2000 in Gilbert, said Sunday the company held its Christmas party about two weeks ago, and there were no signs the broker was in trouble. “I did not see this coming,” he said.

Is the punch line something about a brand that markets itself with a big bag of hot air?

I hear from others who’ve been around in this market for a long time, they’re not too shocked by this action. The Broker, I heard, has been known to write hot checks to their agents for commissions, time to time. It’ll be interesting to see the next phase in the process for them, as well as any other brokers out there who might follow the same steps.
