U.S. homebuilders are easing back on new construction when they should have slammed on the breaks over 2 years ago!
… privately-owned housing starts for the month of January 2008 fell 14.2 percent month-over-month as compared to December 2007.
Not the sharpest knives in the drawer, at least the homebuilders are cutting back on new construction now.

The government wants to put in place immediate ecomonic measures,
Enforce a reduction in residential building.

Yes, amazing isn’t it. Builders here in Orlando also only JUST started cutting back and we’ve taken a royal beating in this market. Also, I feel for the builders reputations in neigborhoods where homes were purchased for 500k in 2005 and the builder is still building in the same subdivision with the same model homes for 250k. Ouch…that hurts.
