Another positive termite inspection

May 27th, 2008 · 2 Comments

This is a personal record. I’ve had two buyer home inspections find “Visible evidence of wood-destroying insects were observed” in less than a week.

This one was clearly legit.

Newish home. No “visible evidence of previous treatment was observed.”

I found the mud tube where the inspector said it would be. It looked intact, not at all like the falling apart mud tube I saw a few years ago and that I mentioned in the previous post.

Later the inspector called again.

He said he had just faxed me the report and would I like him to send a proposal for treatment.

$403.

Maybe we should start an “Angie’s List” of various vendor’s we use and compare notes and pricing they gave us or our clients. Rather than going to www.angieslist.com you could establish a “John’sList” where we can contribute our own various vendor experiences on a side bar called Vender Ratings.

By the way on an up side, I have two closings on Friday, and neither property had termites or old tunnels. Lucky I guess.

Recently closed on a vacant house … little doubt of the termites as there were nine separate tubes and real, live termites inside of them.

Waiting to hear from my ex-wife on the quote she’ll receive … I saw the tube myself when I dropped my daughter off two weeks back.
